Experiments

The lab manual describes all the core experiments. The guide pages of the non-core experiments are on the First Year Physics Laboratory web page:

http://faraday.physics.utoronto.ca/PHY110_138Lab/Ncorexp.htm

Requirements

You are required to attend all the lab sessions. You have to complete two core experiment in the first four weeks of classes and also five weights of free choice experiments for credit. The best six marks will count  towards you final Experiment Mark. You cannot skip one experiment because the "best six" rule.

At the beginning of the term you will do two assignments outside the lab sessions. They are both dues at the beginning of your third lab session:

1) Error Analysis Assignment

2) Height of the Physics Building Assignment. Measure the height of the main tower of the Physics and Astronomy Building. Use any method you want. Quote your result in meters and include an error estimate.

Marking Scheme

In-Lab Mark (work in the lab)                                   20%

Experiment Mark (notebook, work in the lab)        40%
