Shutting Down A Microprocessor
Laboratory Computer
- Close off all the windows (LabVIEW, directories, etc)
- Choose Shutdown from the Start menu (bottom left-hand corner)
- Click on the appropriate action (the default is to completely shut the computer down)
- When the screen says "It's now safe to turn off your computer" (or after three minutes,
whichever comes first) turn off the computer and the monitor
- If you do not get the "It's now safe to turn off your computer" message, or if the computer
goes down in any other manner (due to power failure, crash, etc..) It is your responsibility to
correct matters. Most of the time a simple reboot will do to ensure that things are back to
normal, ie a re-boot and normal shutdown is sufficient evidence that all is well. If things are
more serious, call for assistance. This is not a matter of blame, it is a matter of ensuring that
our computers are operational as much of the time as possible.
