PHY132 Physics Practicals - Winter 2011

The overall structure of the Physics Practicals for PHY132 is the same as the Practicals for PHY131. That structure is discussed in the home page for the PHY131 Practicals at http://www.upscale.utoronto.ca/Practicals/2010.Fall/. Here we discuss the details of the PHY132 Practicals.

About turnitin.com

One of our responsibilities is to protect you from any of your classmates who may be tempted to submit work that is not their own. Students agree that by taking PHY132 all required papers may be subject to submission for textual similarity review to Turnitin.com for the detection of plagiarism. All submitted papers will be included as source documents in the turnitin.com reference database solely for the purpose of detecting plagiarism of such papers. The terms that apply to the University's use of the turnitin.com service are described on the turnitin.com web site.

To submit your Measurement Report to turnitin:

You may choose to submit only a hard-copy report of your project, but in this case you must:

Requirements

Here are the components of the Practical mark:

  1. Notebook Mark 0 (0% of course). After the first Practical the lab books will be collected and marked. However, this mark will not count towards your Practical mark. Instead it is intended to make our standards and requirements clear to you.
  2. Measurement Project (6% of course). You will do this assignment individually. It is due to your TAs drop-box on Tuesday, March 15 by 5:00pm, and an identical electronic copy to www.turnitin.com by 11:59pm the same day. The late penalty is 10% per business day of lateness reduction in mark.
  3. Notebook Mark 1 (7% of course). After Practicals Session 5, a selection of the activities from Practical Sessions 2-5 will be chosen to be marked. The decision of which Activities will be marked will be chosen more-or-less randomly after the books have been collected. All Teams will have the same Activities marked.
  4. Notebook Mark 2 (7% of course). At the end of the term a selection of the activities from Practicals Sessions 6-10 will be chosen to be marked. The decision of which Activities will be marked will be chosen more or less randomly after the books have been collected. All Teams will have the same Activities marked.
