Description


A versatile caliper for precise measurement of interior and exterior dimensions of objects. Inch and centimeter scales are provided, which may be precisely read by means of a vernier scale (see VERNIER sheet in "Notes to students" for instructions).

Operating Instructions


  1. Loosen both the "lock" and the "fine adjust lock" and close the caliper so as to check the zero length reading. If it is not zero all readings will have to be corrected appropriately. Also check the measuring edges for coincidence.
  2. Gently apply the caliper to the object, and tighten the "fine adjust lock".
  3. Move the "fine adjust" very gently until the object snugly fits in the caliper jaws. Do not over-tighten.
  4. Read the scale in cm.
