Description


This is a 6 1/2 digit, high performance digital multimeter. Some of its features include a fluorescent display, math operations, continuity and diode test functions. The instrument includes control via an IEEE-488 (HP-IB) control bus.

Note: sixteen of these instruments were purchased courtesy of a grant from Nortel.

Operating Instructions


  1. When the unit is turned on the front-panel display will light up while the multimeter performs its power-on self-test. The HP-IB bus address is displayed. The multimeter powers up in the dc voltage function with autoranging enabled.
  2. To review the power-on display with all annunciators turned on, hold down "shift" as you turn on the multimeter.
  3. The complete self-test is performed by holding down "shift" as you press the power switch on. Hold down the key for more than 5 seconds. The self-test will begin when you release the key.
  4. If the self-test is successful, "PASS" is displayed. If the self-test is not successful, "FAIL" is displayed and the ERROR annunciator turns on.
