MULTIMETER (digital)

Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
Model: 3476 A
Cost: $420 (1982)

Description

Versatile meter capable of five different functions, i.e. AC and DC currents, AC and DC voltages, and resistance. Measured values are displayed on a digital readout. The Hewlett-Packard meter is auto-ranging, i.e. the meter automatically switches to the most appropriate range.

Operating Instructions

  1. Turn on meter with meter disconnected from circuit.
  2. Check zero of meter as follows: connect lead across V-Ohm and COM inputs, depress V button only, i.e. meter set to measure DC voltage, readout should read 1 digit or less.
  3. Select the appropriate range and function and then connect the meter into the circuit, ensuring the correct pair of inputs are used. If the range is not know start at highest range and work down. If display does not show all digits lit up or if display flashes a higher range should be selected.
