Manufacturer: Keithley
Model: 160 B
Cost: $850 (1979)

Description

Versatile meter capable of three different functions, i.e. DC currents, DC voltages, and resistance. Measured values are displayed on a digital readout. The meter does not have AC functions but has a very wide range of current and voltage measuring capabilities.

Specifications

DC Voltage
Ranges1 mV to 1000 Vin 7 ranges
Accuracy±(0.1% of reading + 0.1% of range)
Input Resistance 10 Mohms, all ranges
DC Current
Ranges 10 nA to 1000 mA in 9 ranges
Accuracy 100 mA through 10 mA ± (0.2% of reading + 0.1% of range)
100 mA and 1000 mA ± 0.3% of reading + 0.1% of range)
Resistance
Ranges 1 ohm to 1000 Mohm in 10 ranges
Accuracy 1 ohm through 10 Mohm ± (0.3% of reading + 0.1% of range)
100 Mohm ±(10.0% of reading + 0.1% of range)
1000 Mohm ±(30.0% of reading + 0.1% of range)

Operating Instructions

  1. Turn on meter with meter disconnected from circuit.
  2. Check zero of meter as follows: connect a short lead across the inputs, these are identified L0 and H1. Set range/function switch to 1 mV, i.e., the most counter-clockwise position of the mV range. The display should indicate not more than 1 digit.
  3. Select the appropriate range and function and then connect the meter into the circuit, ensuring the correct pair of inputs are used. If the range is not known start at highest range and work down. If display does not show all digits lit up or if display flashes a higher range should be selected.
