4 Mhz Function Generator

Manufacturer: Wavetek
Model: 182A

Description

Precision source of sine, triangle and square waveforms plus dc voltage. Variation of 0.004 Hz to 4 Mhz and can be externally modulated or swept over a 1000:1 range. Output can be continuous or the generator could be triggered or gated from an external signal or a front panel switch. Amplitude of the waveforms is variable from 10V peak-to-peak into 50 Ohms down to 30 mV p-p. DC reference of the waveform can be offset positively or negatively.

Operating Instructions

  1. Manual Function Generator Operation
    1. Connect circuit to 50 Ohm OUT (HI or LO)
    2. Set FREQUENCY MULTIPLIER to desired frequency range
    3. Adjust FREQUENCY DIAL to desired frequency with selected range.
    4. Select desired waveform with FUNCTION BUTTONS.
    5. Set DC OFFSET as desired. Limit waveform amplitude to prevent clipping.
    6. Select desired AMPLITUDE.
  2. Voltage Controlled Function Generator Operation
    1. Operation is similar to manual control but frequency is controlled by an external voltage connected to VCG IN.
    2. For frequency control with positive DC inputs at VCG IN, set the dial for a lower frequency limit.
    3. For frequency control with negative DC inputs at VCG IN, set the dial for an upper frequency limit.
    4. For modulation with an ZZC input at VCG IN, set the dial at the desired center frequency. Do not exceed the maximum dial range of the selected frequency range.
